Audit Facilitation

When it comes to a DOT compliance audit, it's not a matter of “if”, it's a matter of “when”.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) conducts audits regularly to guarantee companies are complying with all rules and regulations. Since the enactment of the DOT’s FMCSA Safety Measurement System (SMS), which is used to identify carriers with potential safety problems for interventions, the number of DOT audits has increased greatly.

The information gathered from the SMS is separated into 7 different categories that have an influence on safety. The DOT determines your company’s score based on that data.

These categories include:

  • Unsafe Driving
  • Crash Indicator
  • Hours-of-service Compliance
  • Vehicle Maintenance
  • Controlled Substances/Alcohol
  • Hazardous Materials Compliance
  • Driver Fitness

Once your company’s score breaches the “intervention threshold” set forth in each category, you are at risk for a DOT audit. This is why it is crucial for carriers to maintain thorough records. Your system should be organized, maintained and confirm that all essential information required is accounted for.

This is exactly what CMV Shield does. We’re there from start to finish to help your company pass any audit that may come, complete with any detailed Corrective Action Plan (CAP) packets that you may need.

If you received notice of an audit and you’re not sure where to start, contact us today. We can help.
